Inspirations
Motivated to LIVE past a year of doom and gloom
It has been 5 months since I've written here on my website but I made a promise to myself that I would write before January left us. I kept my promise - just in the nick of time! 2020 has had many of us in the proverbial tailspin and we welcomed 2021 with anticipation of a year full of optimism and less doom and gloom. 2020 left many of us void of relatives and friends due to the other nasty C word that has permeated our braincells for almost a year now while many of us were robbed of the warmth of the relationships with our loved ones with whom we would normally spend time to talk, to laugh, to hug, to hang out, to just relax. As the gates of 2021 opened up many of us reflected on the meaning and value of life. I dedicate this article to…
Live with Intention
It’s been a very long time since I’ve written for the purpose of sharing inspiration. But there’s nothing more exciting and motivating than having someone with whom to have dialogue to kickstart my writing passion – four months since the coronavirus gripped us from our sense of normalcy and forced us into a state of partial paralysis. From the hearts and souls of breathing humans, it stole hope, it stole dreams, it stole patterns of everyday living….it stole life. And yet someone, to add insult to injury, with all their scientific wisdom, gave it a “proper name” – Covid19 – as if this Satanic demon would look better, feel better, do better – and restore that which was irretrievably thieved! What is left for those of us who remain, who, in the midst of searching for optimism may possibly be physically, emotionally, and spiritually shredded? It may seem difficult to…
Let’s not carry the CV traits
The coronavirus, or covid-19 as it is more properly called, as if it deserves the respect of a formal name, has definitely changed and rearranged everything about our lives, leaving millions around the world filled with fear and anxiety and without their loved ones snatched away unexpectedly. This silent, deadly, thief of a killer does not categorize its victims for the taking. Everyone is at risk regardless of race, color, creed, gender, and all manner of title that would normally have people running to Human Rights for violation grievances. CV19 does not answer to charges. CV19 is cruel, cold, and callous. CV19 does not care - and anything or anyone! Some of us may know of people who would fit the same description of this disease. But none of us have to stoop to that level. We are all learning that life really is short and that life really can…
Reach Out, Reach Up, Reach Down….
On a recent trip, as I waited for my flight in the airport, I sat at a charging port to plug my cell phone. To my right was a payphone – something I hadn’t seen for quite some time – let alone one in use. A man walked up to the payphone and begin placing coins on the ledge as he scooped them from the bottom of a carry-on bag. Now, I know we ought not judge people by appearance, but the truth is, we do. I immediately noticed that this man, seemingly in his mid to late 60s, looked a bit disheveled. I actually wondered how he made it past security in the airport but there he was with the rest of us about to board a flight. I observed as he tried to figure out the payphone to make his call. One after one, he dropped the coins…
